Your journey begins with a pickup from your accommodation to Musanze, and head to the Banana Model Village suited in Nyakinama Village. Our knowledgeable guide will give you a quick overview of the day’s activities as you head toward the lush volcanic hills where banana farming thrives.
09:00 AM – Behind the Scenes at a Banana Plantation
Head into the heart of the countryside, where you’ll meet local farmers cultivating bananas using sustainable, time-tested techniques. Get your hands dirty as you help harvest ripe bananas straight from the stalk. Feel the connection to the land as you learn how banana farming has shaped local livelihoods for generations.
11:00 AM – Brewing the Traditional Way
Now comes the magic! ..Under the guidance of experienced local brewers, you’ll discover how to turn bananas into beer using methods passed down through the ages. From peeling and mashing the bananas to fermenting the juice with sorghum or millet, you’ll be part of the entire process. Get involved in stirring, tasting, and fine-tuning the brew to create that perfect balance of sweetness and depth.
12:30 PM – Sip and Socialise
Once the beer is ready, it’s time to taste! ..Raise a glass of freshly brewed banana beer and toast to your newfound skills. Enjoy light local snacks as you share stories with the brewers about banana beer’s role in Rwandan life—from weddings to community gatherings and sacred ceremonies.
02:30 PM – Hearty Rwandan Lunch
Head to a local home where a traditional feast awaits. Tuck into authentic dishes like Isombe (cassava leaves with groundnuts), Ugali (cassava or maize porridge), and Brochettes (grilled meat skewers). This communal meal isn’t just about food. it’s about connection. Engage in heartwarming conversations with your local hosts and gain a deeper understanding of Rwandan hospitality.
04:00 PM – Rwandan Coffee Experience
